About

This introduction letter was my first assignment of the semester and it served as an opportunity to introduce myself to my professor. It required a formal tone and structure, and it gave me a chance to reflect on my background, experiences, and goals.

Subject: Letter of Introduction

Dear Professor Metenko,

I hope this letter finds you well, I am writing to introduce myself as a student in your class. My name is Logan Sanchez, I was born here in the United Sates, though my parents are from Mexico. I would describe myself as a dedicated student, I tend to stay on top of my work, focusing on the tasks I need to complete. I plan on carrying on these attributes to support my ability to perform well in this class, while working on gaining my degree.

As of right now, my major is currently undeclared, but I am working on completing prerequisites to hopefully pursue a career in mechanical engineering. Engineering was a career path that always interested me. One thing I have always enjoyed was math and solving problems, overall, just learning the ways that things work. If my career goes far, I have plans on building my own business to help people who are also pursuing engineering.

One recent challenge that tested my perseverance was taking a precalculus course this winter. Learning trigonometry in just a week is not for the weak but with the power of studying and The Organic Chemistry Tutor, I managed to push through.

My primary goal for this semester is to pass all my classes with high grades to maintain a good GPA for when I apply to the Grove School of Engineering during the following semester. Another goal I have is to make meaningful connections with my peers, specifically those who have similar interests in engineering. Creating a strong academic and social foundation is very important to me.

As for writing, I am still exploring what makes writing “good.” However, what I do know is dedicating time to the process and building a broader vocabulary for myself will help me become a better writer. Throughout this class, I hope to learn and refine my writing abilities.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter, I am looking forward towards this course and excited to engage with this new material.

Sincerely,

Logan Sanchez
